How old were you when you started playing golf:

I was three years old, but I only started playing in SA Kids tournaments about three years ago.

Who inspired your interest in the game?

My Dad took us to play golf, because we enjoyed hitting in the garden.

Your golf idol?

Rory McIlroy, because my coach says I have a similar swing to him, but I just have to get my hips through a bit more.

Favourite course ever played?

My favourite course that I have ever played is my home course, Randpark Golf club, the Bushwillow course. I also like Eagle Canyon.

A funny moment you won’t forget?

I had to hit out of a dam once. I had to hit the ball off a rock and it landed about a meter away from the hole.

How often do you practice and what’s your practice routine?

I practice three times a week at The Elite Academy at Randpark Golf Club. Mondays we do a two hour practice and then one hour of fitness. I do two hours on a Wednesday and then I play 9-holes on a Friday afternoon.

Balance between the school and the fairways?

School always comes first. It gets a bit tricky when I have practice on a Monday afternoon/evening and then a group tests at school the next day, but I try to do extra studying on the weekends.

Goals for your golfing career?

I would like to start consistently shooting an average of 39 or lower and eventually become a scratch golfer.
Ever met a famous golfer?
No, not personally, but I have watched Louis Oosthuizen live at the SA Open and he is cool.

What other sport do you like to play besides golf?

I like to play cricket. I play for my school, Randburg Cricket Club, North West District and I made the Gauteng regional team before Covid. I also play indoor cricket for Western Gauteng.

What is your favourite thing to do when you are not on the course?

I like to go fishing at the dam near our home. I also enjoy playing soccer in the garden with my brothers and have become quite a gamer since COIVD and enjoy playing online with my friends.

Favourite movie?

Spiderman (Far from Home).

What is your motto?

I don’t live by any motto, but I am learning that if you don’t succeed, learn from your mistakes, get your head space right and then try again.

What is your advice to other junior golfers?

Remember to brush the grass and try hold your finish for at least three seconds after every shot. If you have a bad hole, gather your thoughts and start from fresh on the next one.

Houghton was the last course I played and it was great.
