RJ Kinnear was born in Standerton, Mpumalanga and started playing golf when he was two years old, and loved going with his dad to Standerton Golf Club. He plays out of Magaliespark and is part of the North West Golf Union.
At the age of seven he was taken under the wing of Edwin Compton – SAGDB who helped RJ immensely with his game, planned practices and short game drills.
When RJ turned 11 he joined the Grant Veenstra Golf Academy at Ebotse. Grant is always ready and willing to help via video training. RJ had to adapt with his new swing and after a year of constant swing practice it’s finally paying dividends.
According to RJ’s Dad, he is destined for golfing greatness, not because of all the talent and accolades he has received but because of his sheer will and determination that he possesses – always practicing hard even after cricket, rugby and athletics, he goes to practice his golf.
