A day in the life of Bella Modisha
Bella Modisha embarked on her golf career in 2012 and later qualified as a PGA Professional in 2017 she worked at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club and is currently working at the Frenchmans Creek Beach and Country Club in the United States of America.

At what age did you start playing golf?
I was introduced to this wonderful game at the tender age of 16 and haven’t looked back since.
What made you join and study with the PGA of SA?
My dream has always been to be a touring professional golfer, but little did I know that there was so much more to golf. I truly got interested in the business side of the game when I worked for The Pro Shop in Woodmead, Sandton as a club fitting specialist and I learned so much about golf retail after some research I decided the best route to take would be through the PGA of South Africa.

What do you enjoy the most about coaching?
For me it’s the process you take as a pro analysing someone’s golf swing, showing them where the mistakes are and how to fix it with drills. When they get it right out there and come back to tell you, it just makes your day.
How does it feel working in America vs South Africa as a PGA of SA Ladies Member?
It has taken some adjusting to I must say but indeed life-changing because I’m in the hub of the game. I’ve been well-received, I’m still learning so much every day and believe it was the best decision for my career in golf but home will always be home.

Where do you see yourself in the golf industry 5 years from now?
I see myself in 5 years as a Director of Golf at a Country Club or having opened the Bella Modisha golf academy or both.

How would you encourage junior golfers who aspire for a future in golf?
I believe in keeping it age-appropriate, the first step is to make sure the practice routine is right for their age. I encourage my junior golfers to have fun while practising, allowing them to give their input, take lessons, set goals and be patient. Most of all I let them know I’m proud of them.
