We are into the 2nd month of 2023 and I don’t know about you, but I have already noticed how some of my New Year’s resolution motivation has started to dwindle. This is completely normal and it’s always good to remember that our health journey is one that has constant ups and downs. The trick is to make sure that you have a strong foundation of habits set so that no matter what your day, week or month has in store, your basic healthy habits are set and stay consistent.

Here are a few key habits to put into place to keep you on track with your wellness goals:

1. Consistent sleep time
Sleep is as important to your health as eating good nutritious foods. Implement a healthy bedtime routine and make sure that you are going to sleep and waking up at similar times every day, 7 days a week. A lack of sleep raises our cortisol levels which impacts our blood sugar levels which leaves us feeling tired, moody and craving all the bad stuff.

2. Hydration
Hydration is the name of the game! Hydration impacts just about EVERYTHING in our bodies. When we are dehydrated, we tend to feel sluggish and we can experience brain fog and cravings. Women should aim to drink no less than 2L per day and men no less than 2.5L per day.

3. Move your body
Incorporating some form of exercise into your day will do you a world of good! Don’t know where to start? Get walking! Instead of a drive to your local shop, why not take a walk? Utilize time on the weekends to get in a long walk or hike or join a fun gym class. Making exercise a non-negotiable in your daily life will help transform how you feel physically, mentally and emotionally!

4. Eat MORE, eat BETTER
Eat to FUEL your body. Don’t fall into the trap of fad diets where you restrict your calories too much. Focus on eating whole foods, a varied selection of fruits and veg and enough protein (a mix of both animal and plant-based). When we focus on eating to fuel our bodies, we tend to make better choices. If you are struggling with implementing healthy habits or have no idea where to begin why not book a FREE WELLNESS EVALUATION (online) with me? These evaluations give you some really great info about your body, how you can speed up your metabolism, how you are currently ageing your body and how much protein you need daily!
